Death To Pride Jun 02, 2011
Failing doesn't feel good. It hurts. It is embarassing. It is humiliating. It makes you want to crawl into your bed and hide away from your shame. We know we are supposed to be humble, but let's face it: no one wants to actually go through the process necessary to make us humble.
This week I am having to deal with some mistakes I have made. And I am not talking about little mistakes, but some pretty big ones. And it sucks.

When you fall flat on your face, there is little consolation in the "silver lining" of the situation. You really only have two options: (1) run away and hide, or (2) face the consequences and move on. It is not easy or fun, but it is necessary.
Let me ask you a question: "who is in control of my life?" If you just said "God", then why is it so difficult for you to deal with your failures? Don't you know God has what is best for you in mind? And even if He has to slap you every now and again, it is only to save you from a greater pain down the road.
So, then, should I run and hide from this situation? Never! For I know that no matter how big I screw up, God is even bigger. I refuse to be the person who holds tightly onto his own heart. Instead, I want to offer my heart completely and without resevation to God - even if it doesn't feel good right now.
Where are you at in your life today? Are you holding onto something instead of letting God have it? Maybe it is a situation, relationship, job, or even your pride. Whatever it is, take it from me: there is joy in Jesus Christ. It may not feel good now, but if you give your life to God, it is more than worth it.
