Projects
I am almost always tinkering around with different little projects and ideas - both within my head and with my friends. It would far too tedious to put everything online, but every now and then we start working on something and think, "Man, we this is really cool! We should definitely keep this up!" Once we get to that level (and are comfortable with sharing it to the world), I will post it here with a short description of what we are doing
If you would like to learn more, feel free to contact me. Just keep in mind how important intellectual property is: if we are serious about turning an idea into a product or company, I am probably not going to give you too many details about the inner workings of things ;)
Ever had to deal with a Content Management System (CMS)? Not me, I do everything from source ;)
Well, until recently. A few months ago I started working on a website where no one had FTP access - it was completely done through a hosted CMS. And it is just a pain to deal with.
So I started looking into other CMS systems (Wordpress, EasyCMS, Concrete, etc.) and quickly discovered a few key things that just made updating webpages difficult for people who are not experienced with HTML, CSS, or the like. So I started thinking about what I could do to make something stupidly simple.
The idea is to make a simple CMS back-end with a page-level what-you-see-is-what-you-get (wysiwyg) editor. So simple that someone with absolutely no knowledge of websites can easily build and maintain a professional-looking website. But also to make it dynamic enough for experts to be able to do what they want (including SEO, redirects, database-driven stuff, and much more).
Currently, this project is in the "version 0.1 beta" stage - this means the most basic-level idea is working on a test platform, but is far from away from production.
Go green! ... Honestly I think a lot of the "green" technology is just plain dumb. In fact, in several cases, more toxins are released during the production of such technology than regular technology emits through production and its full lifetime! But energy is not free. And the cleaner, more efficient we can generate energy, the better
A few years ago, in a chemistry class in college, I came up with an idea for a car engine that ran without gas, oil, or the like. Zero emissions, zero oil, etc. Just a cheap, clean engine that can run a car indefinitely. I talked about it with a mechanical engineer friend of mine, and we began to build some sample ideas out of legos.
The idea works on paper, and we are close to a working prototype. It is actually a generator (although we mistakenly, and purposely, refer to the project as "The Motor" whenever we talk about it).
I obviously will not give much away here, but the basic idea is to use natural elements in such a way that the potential energy becomes kinetic energy. But alas, even in saying that I am getting too close from revealing too much ;)
